![]() Few records of Shakespeare's private life survive, and t has been considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, sexuality, religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613, w he died three years later. Between 15, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. ![]() At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, who bore him three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. His surviving works consist of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. He is often called England 's national poet and the " Bard of Avon " (or simply "The Bard"). William Shakespeare ( baptized 26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's preeminent dramatist. These books are a real collector’s item and will make a nice addition to any library or book collection. The wear of the books is consistent with the age of the books. The end pages are yellowing but all inner pages are a creamy white, all pages are legible. All books are in good condition, covers and pages are intact. ![]() It was one of the first attempts to mass-market inexpensive books in the United States. The Little Leather Library Corporation of New York was founded in 1916 by Albert Bone, Harry Schermnn and Maxwell Sackiem. The cover of the chest depicts scenes from a number of Shakespeare plays, the photo on the inner cover depicts the Three Witches from Macbeth. What makes this set unique is the chest the books are stored in. They are further distinguished by the book title and the seal “Little Leather Library” stamped in gold on the front cover. These are type III books they were published between 1918 and the early 1920’s. This is a no reserve bid on the, complete and rare, 15 volume set of works by William Shakespeare as included in the original set of books published by the Little Leather Library Corporation in New York.
